1、sat 語法題 請高手指點

at the conclusion of the novel of The Great Gatsby, Nick Carraway, a young Midwesterner recently arrived to New York, moodily watches the blinking green light at the tip of Long Island.

問題是答案說arrived to 錯了，現(xiàn)在網(wǎng)上一種說法是arrive 后面的介詞to 錯了，還有一種說法是因為The Great Gatsby是一本書，所以arrived to 的時態(tài)錯了，請教真確解釋。

還有一個問題是從一句話來看， 逗號后面的moodily watches the blinking green ....這個在整句話里是什么成分，我實在搞不清楚，因為前面已經(jīng)有arrive這個動詞了

我選B，答案D.但是sat中，一句話中不是不能有2個連詞嗎？（難道記錯了？），D里，又是and,又是but，怎么會對？

另外，sat里面不是規(guī)定，副詞前只用；或。連接嗎？可是為什么thereby,thus還有好多其它副詞都有......，副詞＋doing...的用法？e.g. I am happy, thus doing sth.。請具體把所有起連詞作用的副詞的各種用法列一下。如thereby, thus ,therefore。。。。。。尤其是能跟，加doing的！！！這個問題麻煩講詳細(xì)一點。

6。{A significant factor} to include in the budget when {buying} a car are the costs of fuel and maintenance and the insurance payments.

我知道a significant factor應(yīng)改成Sigificant factors，但是buying為什么對？

有個經(jīng)典例子：Mr Hanson proudly demonstrated his company\'s latest cellphone, a model that flashes the time in color-coded numerals （when pressing a button）

. 就是pressing a buttoon 不是主語model發(fā)出的動作，所以不對。

那我這道題里，factors是主語，factors也不是buying的動作發(fā)出者啊。為什么這里buying對的？
